Why Chase the Universe When You Can Call Upon Its Creator?
I spent $200 on a dua course.
I know what you're thinking
"Why would anyone pay to learn how to make dua? Isn’t it just asking Allah for what you want?"
Yep, those were my thoughts too.
But I knew something was missing.
There had to be more to dua than I understood.
So, I took the plunge.
After the course, my imaan was sky-high.
I wanted everyone to know how dua isn’t just about asking for things—it’s the key to everything.
The response I got?
"Yeah, I know. InshaAllah, I’ll make dua."
They didn’t get it.
And to be honest, neither did I for a long time.
I didn’t realized how much I was holding myself back.
It wasn’t my duas that needed changing—it was me.

Before the course, my duas were... comfortable.
Safe.
The same ones, over and over again: “Rabbana atina fi dunya hasana…”
Powerful, sure, but did they excite me?
Did they make me eager for the next salah?
Could I even tell when my dua was answered?
Not really.
I didn’t know that I could—or even should—ask for more.
I thought being "humble" meant just being grateful for what I already had.
Are You Limiting Your Duas?
When someone tells you, “Make dua,” do you take that advice seriously?
Or is your reaction more like, “Yeah, inshaAllah I will,” but then you move on?
Many of us underestimate the power of dua, distracted by modern self-help methods, the law of attraction, or productivity hacks.
But Allah is the source of all we need.
Through sincere dua and focused intention, we can achieve more with less effort.
It’s not about grinding yourself down, and it’s definitely not about figuring out how to achieve everything on your own.
Your role is to ask, do your best, and let Allah do the rest.
(Did I just make a rhyme out of that?? Cool.)
We ask for what seems impossible because
"Allah has power over all things." (65:12)
The Power of Intention: Dream Big in Your Duas
Dua is our most powerful tool for navigating life, forming a direct connection with our Creator.
Even non-Muslims recognize the power of prayer.
Even Shaytan knows that dua works.
If Allah answered Shaytan’s dua, what makes you think He won’t answer yours?
Dua should reflect your true potential, not your limitations.
Allah’s power is limitless, so why not ask for what seems beyond your reach?
Imagine standing before Allah, and He tells you:
"Ask for all that you want, and I will grant it to you."
What would you ask for?
Do you even know?
When I was first asked this question, it stunned me.
Of course, I would ask for Jannah, forgiveness, and good health—but beyond that?
Here I was, a practicing Muslim, praying five times a day… yet when faced with the idea of unlimited wishes from Allah, my mind went blank.
I realized I was stuck in survival mode—focused on my past and uncertain about my future, not even allowing myself to dream.
Pain-Driven vs. Proactive Duas
Are your duas made out of pain or gratitude?
When something goes wrong, we turn to Allah in desperation.
Dua from a place of pain can be powerful—but it can also trap you in a reactive mindset.
What if you’re unintentionally staying in a loop of hardship because you only make dua when you're in pain?
How do you break free?
You become proactive with your duas.
Ask for more—even when life is good.
Dua isn’t just about seeking help in trials; it’s about thriving, building a life filled with blessings, ease, and closeness to Allah.
Don’t wait for hardship to make dua.
Instead, ask Allah to expand your blessings, protect you from harm, and guide you to success in everything you do.
Proactive duas create a mindset of abundance, where you rely on Allah constantly—not just when things are falling apart.
Are You Making Firdaws-Level Duas?
Take a moment to reflect: Are your duas truly as big as they could be?
Do they reflect the limitless potential Allah has placed in your life, or are they just the bare minimum?
Ask yourself:
Have I really asked Allah for everything I want?
Am I thinking big enough?
Do my duas reflect my highest potential—or am I holding back?
Am I asking based on my own limitations?
Remember, Allah can do anything.
He can give you success beyond your dreams, elevate you to the highest levels of Jannah, and bless you with peace and happiness in this world and the next.
But it starts with you asking—and asking boldly.
What Would Your Firdaws-Level Dua Look Like?
What would your Firdaws-level dua look like?
Is it strength to impact your community, wisdom to guide future generations, or the chance to stand at the Kaaba with loved ones?
When you aim high, you’ll notice that something within you shifts.
You’re growing, learning patience, and aligning more closely with Allah’s will.
Reflecting on some of the duas I made years ago—ones I thought had gone unanswered—I now see how Allah responded in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
Sometimes, He granted me better than what I asked for.
Other times, He protected me from what I thought I wanted.
What Do You Desire?
There are three types of dua:
Experiences: Travel, Umrah, memorable moments with loved ones.
Possessions: Homes, cars, financial security.
Becoming: Spiritual growth and personal development.
Which of these excites you the most?
Let that excitement guide you in formulating your duas.
When you ask for something you’re truly passionate about, your connection to that dua becomes deeper and more sincere.

The Endless Cycle of Blessings
Every time you make dua, you step into an endless cycle of blessings. Allah says in the Quran:
"If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]." (Quran 14:7)
The more you ask, the more Allah provides; the more gratitude you show, the more blessings flow into your life.
But you need to enter the cycle with intention.
When you make dua with true awareness, deeply reflecting on what you're asking for, you unlock even more of Allah's blessings.
Take a moment to think back to a time when you made a dua that was answered. How did it feel to receive that blessing?
Reflecting on these answered prayers reminds us of Allah’s constant presence and generosity.
Gratitude is a form of worship that invites even more blessings.
When we thank Allah, we acknowledge His role in every part of our lives, and with each grateful moment, we’re drawn closer to Him.
Take Action: Step Into the Endless Cycle of Blessings
Imagine your future self.
What does your dream life look like?
Now, write down one dua that feels “too big” to ask.
Make it a dua that aligns with the best vision of yourself.
Pick a salah where you will make this dua every day in sujood.
Choose something that gives you butterflies of excitement.
“how would this even be possible?”
congratulations, you’ve now entered the dua zone.
If you think you can make your dua happen by yourself then you’re not aiming high enough.
Remember, Allah’s generosity has no limits.
Don’t hold yourself back with limiting beliefs.
Don’t settle for just surviving.
Aim higher, trust in Allah’s plan, and step into the endless cycle of blessings He has promised.
Because when you do, you won’t just change your duas…
Your duas will change you.
